Ducks Send Wisniewski To Isles For Draft Pick

The Ducks announced today that the club has acquired a third-round selection in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft from the Islanders in exchange for defenseman James Wisniewski. Earlier today, Wisniewski signed a one-year contract through the 2010-11 NHL season. Per club policy, no terms of the deal were disclosed. Wisniewski appeared in 69 games for the Ducks last season, collecting 3-27=30 points with 56 penalty minutes. Acquired from Chicago with Petri Kontiola in exchange for Samuel Pahlsson, Logan Stephenson and a conditional selection in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft on Mar. 4, 2009, Wisniewski has played five NHL seasons with the Ducks and Blackhawks. In 254 career NHL games, the 5-11, 205-pound blueliner has scored 17-80=97 points with a +19 rating and 264 PIM.

Rangers Acquire McCue From Anaheim For Zaborsky

New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the Rangers have acquired defenseman Matt McCue from the Anaheim Ducks, in exchange for forward Tomas Zaborsky. McCue, 22, split the 2009-10 season between the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League (AHL) and the Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL. He began the campaign with Manitoba, registering one goal and 24 penalty minutes in 10 games. McCue made his professional debut with the Moose on October 3. He notched his first professional point with a goal on November 2 vs. Norfolk, tallying Manitoba?s only goal in a 3-1 defeat. McCue made his ECHL debut with Bakersfield on January 13 at Ontario following his assignment on January 7, and recorded two assists and 68 penalty minutes in 19 contests with the Condors. He registered an assist in back-to-back contests on March 20 vs. Victoria and March 26 at Utah. His assist on March 20 was his first professional assist.

Flyers Trade Gagne To Tampa Bay

The Flyers have traded veteran forward Simon Gagne to the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for defenseman Matt Walker and Tampa Bay's fourth-round pick in the 2011 Entry Draft. The Flyers were eager to move Gagne, a high-scoring winger with a history of injury problems, because of salary cap woes brought on by a flurry of trades and free-agent signings this summer.

Ducks Send Eminger To Rangers For Voros, Hiller

The Ducks announced today that the club has acquired left wings Aaron Voros and Ryan Hillier from the Rangers in exchange for defenseman Steve Eminger. Voros played in 41 games with the Rangers in 2009-10, scoring 3-4=7 points with 89 penalty minutes. He had a career-high 8-8=16 points with 122 PIM in 54 games with the Rangers in 2008-09. Voros was drafted by the Devils in the eighth round (229th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft before being traded to Minnesota for a seventh-round selection in the 2008 NHL draft on Feb. 28, 2007. He signed with the Rangers as a free agent on July 1, 2008. Hillier played 22 games in the ECHL and four AHL contests last season. In the ECHL, he played 15 games with Wheeling, scoring 2-3=5 points. Hillier also added 0-2=2 points in seven ECHL games with Charlotte. He went scoreless in four AHL games with Hartford, the Rangers? primary AHL affiliate. Eminger played in 63 games with Anaheim last season, scoring 4-12=16 points with 30 PIM. He was signed by the Ducks as a free agent on Sept. 4, 2009. Eminger was drafted by Washington in the first round (12th overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. He played with Washington, Philadelphia and Tampa Bay before joining the Ducks.

Tampa Bay Sends Meszaros To Philadelphia For 2012 2nd Rounder

The Tampa Bay Lightning acquired a second round pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft from Philadelphia in exchange for defenseman Andrej Meszaros, Vice President and General Manager Steve Yzerman announced. Meszaros, 6-foot-2, 223 pounds, is a veteran of 379 career NHL games with Tampa Bay and the Ottawa Senators, recording 34 goals, 14 power-play goals and 143 points with a career plus-6 rating. He was acquired by the Lightning on August 29, 2008 in exchange for defensemen Filip Kuba and Alexandre Picard as well as a first-round pick in 2009.
